City essay- Cheng-Ta Cho

City- Lubbock
Currently, I study in the Texas Tech University which is in the Lubbock, Texas; therefore, I would like to briefly introduce about Lubbock. Since I have been here for over one year, I think that I can introduce some features about the Lubbock.
Lubbock is located in the northwestern part of the state and I would like talking about its terrain, terrain, the physical features, and the weather. The terrain of Lubbock is high plains which make the scenery monotonous. When you drive through this city, all you can see is short grass and brown dust on the ground and there are not many trees in this city. The weather is extreme here. In the summer, the weather is super-hot while in the winter, the weather is freezing cold. The weather is like the dessert.
Lubbock is a college city since Texas Tech University is here and it provides some unique entertainment for students and its citizens. Tech football game is always a big event in the Lubbock. When it is a game day, lots of people would come to the AT&T Stadium to watch the game and feel crazy about it. Besides the football, some movie theaters are located here. If we want to see a movie, the movie theater can fulfill our requirements at a reasonable price. In addition, there are some night clubs here too where undergraduate students like to hang out in the weekend. Overall, it does not provide much entertainment as the big city does. Thus, I think this place is good for studying and doing the research because of less interruption.
Finally, I would like talking about the personality of people living here and their attitudes toward foreigners. In my impression, people in Lubbock tend to be friendly, nice, passionate to foreigners. I remembered when I first came here and I was not familiar with this city, local people provides lots of help for me and assist me in every aspect that I need to accustom this new environment. Even now, people here still be passionate to help me when I have some difficulties or some problems.
The living cost is quite cheap comparing with other cities. You can get a comfortable room with furnished furniture at a reasonable price which it may cost more than one thousand in some big cities. For shopping, we have Walmarts, United Supermarket, Market Street and a small mall. We also have various kind of restaurants that serve cuisine from other countries such as Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and China. Overall, we can enjoy high quality of life with less burden and pressure.
In conclusion, for me, Lubbock is a good city which has many diverse features including weather, terrain, entertainment, and the local people. Although Lubbock may not be the best city to live, I still like this city because of aforementioned reasons. I think I am going to miss this city when I graduate and leave this city.                                                                       (Cheng-Ta Cho)
